happy birthday to star wars and to him and him and her. the ones we want to celebrate with the most are a seven hour drive away.
"we know the possibility of you coming in this weekend is less than 1%, but we wanted to invite you anyway so you felt loved & so you know we've not forgotten that you're a part of our family. tell your husband."
not blood family, of course, but not-real-family-families are just as good (sometimes better).
...and we might be forming a not-real-family-family here, on this side of the border. i suppose i am not sad that we'll be celebrating age twenty-five instead of thirty. drinking pitchers of alexander keith's instead of yuengling. working on baby friendships instead of putting on wigs and watching old skits.
we'll all be together again eventually. i need to remind myself of this so that i can have fun now.
i will not waste
my life in friction
when it would be
turned into momentum
